THE extension of a HMO in St John’s and extensions to a house in Spetchley Road are on the agenda for Worcester City Council’s planning committee next week.
The committee meets next Thursday (August 15) at the Guildhall with two applications to make decisions on.
One is an application to extend an existing four-bed HMO in Windsor Avenue, St John’s.
The plan by Big Fish Property would turn the house into a six-bed HMO. A similar plan was refused in July last year after city planners said it would be too big.
The developer says “significant changes” have since been made to the scheme but residents still have concerns over noise, parking and litter.
Councillor Matt Lamb referred the application to the planning committee, citing concerns of overdevelopment in an area already saturated by HMOs.
Committee members will also be asked to make a decision on plans to extend a house in Spetchley Road.
This application came before members in May but councillors wanted to carry out a site visit and gather extra information before making a decision.
The owners of the house, which is close to Nunnery Wood High School, want to build a side and a rear extension but neighbours have objected.
