VANDALS have attacked a city business twice in three days in a fresh round of attacks on the company's vans.

Terry Gorman, director for 5 Star Recycling, said arsonists had set fire to one of his vans and the flames could have spread further if a dog walker had not raised the alarm.

Petrol was poured through the hole in the driver's side window and set alight on Monday (August 5).

Two days earlier, the Dines Green company's trucks were attacked, with a brick being thrown through the driver's side window and the windscreen smashed.

Mr Gorman said: "A dog walker spotted the fire and told us.

"It could have been a lot worse if they hadn't been there."

After two incidents, Mr Gorman is now looking at the costs of damages: "Between the windscreen, the driver's side window and the damage from the fire, it's going to cost around £500 to repair."

It is not the first time that Mr Gorman and his brother Ricky have been victims of vandalism.

The company were left with a £700 bill when two of their trucks were hit by bricks, smashing their windscreens in June.

One of the vehicles that was damaged previously has been targeted again - but the brothers have no idea why.

The brothers received several messages from other tradesmen after the first attack in June saying they had been through similar experiences.

"We think we're being targeted," Mr Gorman said.

"I was trying to hide my vans at 5pm last night."

Mr Gorman said the vandalism was having a negative effect on the business and has asked anyone with information to speak to police.

He said: "We've got four trucks in total, but now we're without one because of damage.

"It is having a huge effect on our business."

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "We were called to Tudor Way at 11.05pm following a report that a van had been set on fire.

"Officers attended but no suspects were located and enquiries are ongoing."
