A COUPLE has said that they would be trying food from every vendor at the Worcester food festival in what they called "the tapas challenge."

Social Eats Food and Music Festival drew thousands this afternoon (August 3), with entertainment scheduled to last until 11pm, however organisers acknowledged that the sudden move had affected turnout.

Despite this, thousands basked in the sun, many of whom brought their own chairs and picnic tables but they all had one thing in common to say, good food and good music.

Jordan Eastogan said: "It's nice that this is on our doorstep and that the weather is nice and hot.

"The move actually made it closer for us and so it didn't affect us.

"We are going to try the tapas challenge later by sharing one meal from every food van, but so far the drinks and music have been amazing."

Festival goers could enjoy live music along with food, drink and craft stalls, and a children's funfair.

Nicky Wiley who had been at the festival for two hours said: "My son has come up for the weekend from Cornwall and I saw that this was happening so I thought we should give it a go.

"So far the music and food has been good and we can't complain about the weather either.

"The move has honestly made is easier for us as I live in Blackpole and my son is at the Premier Inn, but I can see how it might be worse for someone coming out of Worcester."

The move was announced less than a week ago on Tuesday (July 30) and Social Eats had to amend their plans to include a shuttle bus between the city centre and the stadium.

Alex McGarry, one of the owners of Social Eats Events, said: "We hold about 20 events each year and this is the first time we've been to Worcester.

"So far everyone is having a good time and the weather is perfect, its not too hot but unfortunately we have had 250 cancelations because of the move, but we still expect over 2,000 people."
