UNUSED office space above a building society in Worcester could be converted into flats.

A plan to turn large parts of 2 The Cross, a Grade II* listed building in the city centre, into seven one-bedroom apartments has been put forward.

The front of the ground floor is currently used by the Skipton Building Society.

If approved by Worcester City Council, the plans would see the back of the ground floor plus the upper floors converted into residential space.

“The Grade II*listed building status is to be enhanced by the creation of a residential occupancy,” planning documents state.

“The residential conversion will ensure the continued use of the building for the future to improve the quality of setting from that which currently exists.”
