The Museum of Royal Worcester has announced it will host its annual Summer Fun Day for all ages.

This year's theme is 'Summer Fruits', drawing inspiration from the designs and food associated with Worcester porcelain.

The event will feature a range of sensory creative activities suitable for all the family.

A quieter hour has also been scheduled for the first time from 10am to 11am for visitors who would prefer a more relaxed time on the Open Day.

A yellow Pop-up Museum will be in the courtyard outside Good Roots Café for creative activities.

Inside the Museum, visitors can join historic ice cream and sorbet workshops led by Dr Neil Buttery, an award-winning food historian and chef, who will demonstrate how iced desserts were made before refrigeration and give participants a taste of history.

Additional interactive activities include clay play and fruit-themed poetry by Worcestershire Litfest poets.

Kate Travers, museum director, said: "Summer fun day visitors can also enjoy tea-tasting of herbal and flower teas served in Royal Worcester china, demonstrations of ceramic techniques by former Royal Worcester artists and get close to examples of Worcester porcelain from our handling collection.

"Staff and volunteers are getting excited to host our biggest Summer Fun Day yet, with something for everyone to enjoy."

The Museum's Paint-Your-Own-Pottery studio will also be open, where visitors can paint a flowerpot or a pair of coasters that the Museum will glaze and fire for collection later.

Tickets for the day are available for £3.50 per person, and activities are open to all ages.

Entry for children under six is free.

The fun day will be held on Wednesday, August 14 from 11am to 3pm.
