A YELLOW weather warning has been issued across the UK for today (August 1) which could see thunderstorms in the county.
The warning has been put in place by the Met Office for thunderstorms and includes Worcester.
The warning comes after a week of hot summer weather, although today should still be hot albeit cloudy according to the Met Office's website.
Worcester is expected to reach 26 degrees but to remain cloudy throughout the day.
What to expect during a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms:
- Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.
- Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services.
- Power cuts might occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost.
- Flooding of homes and businesses could happen quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds.
- Fast flowing or deep floodwater is possible, causing a danger to life.
