"There's no such thing as a no-go area" said a city councillor after a successful deep clean removed years of rubbish and overgrowth.

The cleaning took place on Teme Road and Avon Road, in Tolladine, with councillors on site and members of the Warndon StreetScene team working hard to clean up the streets.

Ed Kimberley, Worcester City Council councillor for Warndon and Elbury Park, said: " The deep clean operation took place on Monday (July 29) morning.

"I requested this operation shortly after I was elected as a councillor in May on the grounds that I was very familiar with the area and could see the state it had fallen into.

"Members of the Warndon StreetScene team focused on removing dirt, rubbish and overgrowth from the roads and pathways which had built up over the course of years.

"The challenge around Avon and Teme Roads is that there are many multi-car households and very little parking space.

"So, ordinarily, the StreetScene team will struggle to access large parts of the road in order to clean them.

"Some of this work can be carried out on a regular basis, but it is less common to have it all done in one go."

The team did not face too many parked cars as many residents were aware of the clean-up.

Mr Kimberley also thanked his fellow councillor, Naz Hussain who was "instrumental" in reaching out to residents.

Mr Kimberley continued: "The tragic thing about this story, for me, is just how straightforward the whole process was - meaning there is no reason it couldn't have happened much sooner.

"The message I want to get out there is that there is no such thing as a no-go area in our city.

"Wherever you live, no matter how unloved it may currently be, your Labour councillors want to hear from you, and we want to make sure that you're receiving the services you deserve.

"You don't have to put up with filth in your streets, or with antisocial behaviour, or with vandalism and antisocial behaviour.

"We're here to fight your corner.

"Talk to us, help us identify the problems so we can fix them."
