A campaign group, which protests against courts' prevention of defendants from mentioning the climate crisis in their defences, has been in action again outside the Worcester Combined Court buildings.
The Worcester Defend Our Juries group held placards, one of which read ‘Jurors deserve to hear the WHOLE truth’.
The group's action follows the imprisonment of five Just Stop Oil activists after a trial at Southwark Crown Court, including Roger Hallam, who was sentenced to five years in prison.
Melanie Jameson, a Worcester Defend Our Juries co-ordinator, said: “As long as the climate crisis is ignored, principled people will take actions that may lead to arrest.
"It is self-defeating for certain judges to try and gag them and denies the right of jurors, established in the 1670s, to acquit a defendant according to their conscience.
"We shall join people across the country to bear witness to this state of denial and the injustices that follow."
Worcester Defend Our Juries also drew attention to a written statement to the government by UN Special Rapporteur for Environmental Defenders, Michel Forst, in which he expressed concerns about the trial of the five Just Stop Oil activists.
