COUNCILLORS are set to make a decision on the future of the Swan Theatre at a meeting at the Guildhall on Tuesday night (July 30).
Worcester City Council’s Policy and Resources committee will decide whether to lease the building to Worcester Theatres for a symbolic ‘peppercorn’ rent of £1 per year.
The deal, which both parties see as securing the sustainable future of the theatre, would involve Worcester Theatres taking it on a 99-year lease.
Plans to invest around £205,000 in accessibility improvements at The Swan as part of Worcester’s bid for Levelling Up funds are not affected.
