The deadline to enter this year's Worcester Show is approaching.

The community event is set to take place on Sunday, August 11 at The Pitchcroft and offers the chance to compete for hundreds of pounds worth of prizes along with the coveted Worcester Show trophies.

Inspired by this year's dinosaur theme, the competition classes include Floristry, Baking, Handicrafts and Photography.

The Creative Technology category invites entries to make a film or animation.

In the Literature section, contestants can write a poem, short story, song, or script.

For teenagers aged between 12 and 17, the Youth Skills and Creativity competition provides an engaging platform.

Younger children can show their creativity through the Fun and Creativity competition.

The contest also includes various sponsored class categories that offer attractive prizes such as day trips, hampers, and gift vouchers.

Brands and organisations such as Hobbycraft, Worcester Racecourse and Pershore College will provide prizes in sponsored categories.

Long-time participant Helen Platt, who has been entering Worcester Show categories for over a decade, is urging others to join.

She said: "Bringing colour and decoration to the show is all part of it.

"You don’t need to be an artisan, as you can watch videos online about making different arrangements and how to do everything.

"I usually look at the classes and then as I’m going about everyday life ideas come to me."

The Mayor of Worcester, Councillor Mel Allcott, will be presenting the prizes.

She said: "Every year the standard of the entries at Worcester Show is so high and I look forward to seeing them.

"This is a chance to challenge yourself and showcase your skills to our judges.

"There are some great prizes on offer so make sure you register online at www.worcestershow.org.uk/exhibitors."

Entries must be submitted online before 10am on Monday, August 5.

Entries for the Creative Technology section must be submitted by Wednesday, July 31.

Would-be contestants and attendees can join the festivities for £2 per adult, with under-16s attending free of charge.
