Worcester City Art Gallery & Museum's latest offering, 'Dinosaurs on the Doorstep' made a big splash when it opened two weeks ago, as over 700 people came to view this prehistoric exhibition.

With the school holidays underway, the exhibit is another addition to the line-up of activities that families across Worcester can enjoy for little or no cost at all.

'Dinosaurs on the Doorstep' is entirely free to enter and available until Sunday, September 8, so we had our own walk through the exhibition to uncover its best bits.

Dino Camp

Set in the exhibit's main room, Dino Camp is perfect for the museum's youngest but curious visitors.

There's a selection of dinosaur-themed books and a small tipi with seats for children to have a quiet read in.

Furthermore, nearby is a selection of dinosaur costumes for children to use and a large selfie mirror to appreciate their new look.

Full dinosaur skeletons

One of exhibition's most impressive features is the collection of real and replica dinosaur skeletons on display.

The meat-eating Megalosaurus catches the eye when you first enter, and it was actually the first dinosaur to ever be named.

Every dinosaur bone and fossil on display was found in the UK, and some just a stone's throw away such as the Proceratosaurus which was found within an hour's drive of Worcester.

Fossils

Dinosaur fossils can be found wherever you turn at the exhibition, including fossilised footprints - and even fossilised poo.

Some are for viewing only, but 'Dinosaurs on the Doorstep' has plenty of fossils that are available to touch too, making the exhibition a truly interactive experience.

Activity space

The activity space at 'Dinosaurs on the Doorstep' is the ideal area for learning and creativity.

Children can use the crayons provided to create their own prehistoric masterpiece, or take a closer look at the exhibition's specimen slides through a microscope - complete with a lab coat, of course.

'Dinosaurs on the Doorstep' isn't just for children though, and the museum has organised events such as 'Museum After Hours: Jurassic Jam' with cocktails and live music. The next night's event is on Friday, August 23.
