AN UNINSURED driver has been given a community order after he was caught behind the wheel of a Land Rover while over the drink-drive limit.

Richard Strain, of Broadgreen, Broadwas, near Worcester, pleaded guilty to all counts after he was found to have 132 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

The drink-drive limit is 35mcgs of alcohol in 100mls of breath.

He was caught in Oldbury Road in St John's, Worcester, on Tuesday, May 21.

He pleaded guilty at Worcester Magistrates Court to being in charge of a motor vehicle while his alcohol level was above the limit.

The 53-year-old also pleaded guilty to driving a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence and using a vehicle without third-party insurance.

For driving above the limit, magistrates gave Strain a community order in which he must complete alcohol treatment at Cranstoun, in Worcester, for six months along with taking part in a 20-day rehabilitation activity.

He has been disqualified from driving for 24 months.

Strain must also pay court costs of £85 and a surcharge of £114 by Tuesday, August 20.

There were no separate penalties for using a vehicle while uninsured or driving in accordance with a licence.
