The Hangar bar at the University of Worcester, managed by the Worcester Students’ Union, has secured national recognition as one of the UK's top student haunts.

Not only has the university venue been bestowed Gold status by Best Bar None (BBN) for the seventh year in a row, but it also snatched second place in the national BBN awards.

Commendably, the Union's social hub has received three NUS Trade Awards for Impactful Collaboration, Student Feedback and Input, and Customer Safety.

BBN, the nationally celebrated accreditation scheme, reserves its Gold status for licenced premises that are both socially responsible and enhance nightlife.

The fact that Worcester's SU Bar has maintained this distinguished status for almost a decade is a testament to their commitment to their students' well-being.

In the NUS Trade Awards, The Hangar's wins were a clear reflection of the efforts of the Students’ Union staff to make the bar a welcoming and safe environment.

The Impactful Collaboration award was earned through successful partnerships with the University of Worcester’s International Team in organising enriching cultural events for the students.

Furthermore, staff member Ella Page was acknowledged in the Student Input and Feedback Award category for impressively shaping the venue’s cocktail menu and amplifying its social media image.

Meanwhile, the Customer Safety and Comfort award came due to the team's relentless safeguarding efforts.

Ruttuja Mane, president of Worcester Students’ Union, said: "We are incredibly proud of the remarkable achievement made by our staff in winning these awards.

"They’ve worked tirelessly to provide a safe and inclusive environment to all students.

"This recognition not only highlights their dedication but also their commitment to student welfare, and we look forward to continuing our efforts to provide an outstanding experience for our student community."

Nestled in the heart of the University of Worcester’s St John’s Campus, the Hangar Bar hosts a plethora of events for students throughout the academic year and is open to reservation by the public.
