A MISGUIDED act of kindness has led volunteers to remind people that swans don't have teeth.
A good Samaritan had left food including lettuce, cabbage, French beans and broccoli at the Swan Sanctuary in Worcester.
However, the birds were unable to eat it as it had not been shredded to a size fit for consumption.
The Swan Food Project, an organisation that aims to support swans in Worcester explained that "swans don't have teeth" which is why they had not touched it.
Volunteers proceeded to tear the food into smaller pieces which was "devoured" by the birds.
A spokesperson for The Swan Food Project said: "On Sunday someone so very kindly brought fresh food for the swans, but they couldn't eat it.
"Once torn up small and dropped in shallow water they devoured the lettuce, cabbage, French beans, and broccoli."
