NEIGHBOURS who could live next door to a new secondary school when it is built have raised concerns about its size, location and the impact on traffic and parking.
Residents attended a public engagement session at Lyppard Hub in Ankerage Green in Warndon Villages in Worcester and gave their feedback on the proposals.
People had an opportunity to look at the proposals for a new secondary school and multi-storey car park with up to 850 spaces near Worcestershire Royal Hospital on Wednesday (July 17).
Cllr Andrew Cross said: "Many residents have voiced concerns about the new school - regarding its size, location, traffic congestion, fly-parking in nearby residential roads, safety of pupils and staff going there via active travel methods, ecology and biodiversity on site and loss of amenity green space.
"Many other residents have welcomed having a school nearby but are concerned about the lack of school provision in the south west of Worcester where significant housing has been built.
"Most residents agree that our county council should provide more information and engagement about the new school development and I echo that call to our county council leaders."
A spokesperson for Prime said: "We were pleased to see the community come out in force to view plans for a new car park and access road.
"We were able to provide information around proposals, and received very useful feedback which we will be able to respond to once the project enters the detailed design phase.”
Developer Prime is aiming to submit a joint application together with Worcestershire County Council for outline planning permission for the multi-storey and school by the end of this month.
If the application is approved within 13 weeks, developers could secure outline permission by the end of this year
The access to the new multi-storey would be accessed off Nunnery Way (A4440) which developers say will reduce journeys on Newtown Road and ease congestion in and around the hospital site.

Meanwhile, the joint application for the school aims to provide more school places in the city.
The proposed development comprises a 600-place mainstream secondary school for pupils between the age range of 11 and 16. It is anticipated that the full 600 places of the school would not be reached until 2031.
