A man has died following a house fire near Worcester city centre.
Ambulance staff worked together to try to save the man's life but he died at the scene in Southfield Street in the Arboretum.
West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) was called to the house in the Arboretum on Saturday (July 20) at 2.30pm.
On arrival, WMAS staff attended to a man in critical condition who had been rescued from the property by fire crews.
A statement from WMAS said: "The team of ambulance staff worked together to administer advanced life support on scene but sadly, despite everyone’s best efforts, nothing could be done to save the man.
"He was confirmed dead on scene a short time later."
Four crews from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFRS) attended the fire on Southfield Street following a call at 2.19pm, with reports of people being in the two-storey, end terrace home.
Crews from Worcester, Malvern and Upton upon Severn fire stations attended the incident, and eight firefighters extinguished the fire using two hosereel jets.
One resident, Laurence Mendes, who was visiting a friend's home on Southfield Street, saw emergency crews as he arrived.
Mr Mendes said: "I arrived near 5pm, and an officer told me they had been there since near 2pm and they weren't letting anyone through at that time.
"A neighbour told me that the air ambulance had taken someone away."
