THEN: Deansway in Worcester pictured below with the Duke of Wellington pub pictured prominently after its closure in the 1970s.

It had previously been one of the main pubs in the densely-populated Birdport street which had become Deansway by 1965.

The pub was situated next door to the The Countess of Huntingdon’s Chapel, a once-thriving Methodist church, which closed in 1976 after becoming derelict.

By the end of the 1950s little remained of the old Birdport apart from the Duke of Wellington pub and the Glovers Needle nearby which was the spire of the otherwise-demolished St Andrew’s Church.

NOW: The same part of Deansway pictured below in 2024.

The pub is no longer there after being demolished not long after the first photo was taken.

The Countess of Huntingdon’s Chapel was turned into entertainment venue Huntingdon Hall, reopening in 1987.
