A busy main road in Kidderminster is set to be closed for over a month. 

According to the Worcestershire County Council website, the A450 Worcester Road will be closed next week from its junction with the A449 Worcester Road. 

The closure is set to be in place from 10pm on Monday, July 22 with Black Bridge also expected to be closed throughout the duration of the work. 

There is a valid permit in place until 6am on Friday, August 23. 

The road is being closed to facilitate work undertaken by N.C.L. Contractors on behalf of Aurora Wilden View School. 

The work is set to see some roadside alterations to help improve visibility and access to the school site.

There will be access exemptions for residents to access properties where there is no other form of access. 

There is a diversion in place via A449 Worcester Road, A442 Droitwich Road, A450 Worcester Road and vice versa. 

A post on the Hartlebury Parish Council website said: "From July 22 and for approximately six weeks, the A450 at the bridge will be closed to through traffic to help improve the visibility and access to the Aurora School site.

"The work involves some roadside alterations and the removal of part of the bank on the inside of the bend. The traffic lights will be turned off.

"The flow of traffic along Worcester Road will be impacted due to the bridge closure and alternative routes being needed. 

"Torton Lane is due to be closed to through traffic with access-only signs."

Temporary traffic signals will be in place on A449 on weekday nights from 10pm until 6am and also on weekends. 

The county council website said access for pedestrians will be provided.
