A CARE provider wants to turn a house in Worcester into a HMO.

Whitestone Care has bought 3 Bolton Avenue in Warndon Villages and says there is “high demand for placements for children and adults with additional needs in Worcestershire”.

It wants to create a “disabled access living space” at Bolton Avenue, converting the garage into an en-suite disabled bedroom and one of the downstairs reception rooms into another disabled bedroom.

In planning documents submitted to Worcester City Council, Whitestone says the upstairs would be for more able-bodied clients.

“All doors would be widened to make them disabled access, and the property would be updated to meet current building standards and regulations,” it says.

“Care provided would be 24-hour and Whitestone care would provide staff accommodation nearby and transport to minimise the need for parking or any disruption.”

A few neighbours have raised concerns about the plans.

Esha Jenkins said: “I am concerned about noise from the residents, carers or vehicles arriving at the house.

"It feels unfair having moved into the house five years ago in a quite cul-de-sac, it now potentially being louder and busier.

She said also complained there is already a HMO next to 3 Bolton Avenue, adding: “I wonder if the accumulative impact of up to 12 residents with poor mental health/ disabilities has been considered on the local area.”

Katherine Smith said: “We already have cars and vans parking on the corner of the junction and opposite the house in question.

“It is becoming hazardous and I don't think the area can cope with any more parking on the road.”

Ashley Brown said the proposed HMO is “likely to increase significantly the number of vehicles in an already busy location [and] likely to block access to some properties for emergency vehicles - this does not sit well with me.”
