ORGANISERS of a community fayre have already started to plan next year's event after a 'hugely successful' day.
The Whittington Community Fayre, an event aimed at bringing the community together, has drawn "double" its expected footfall and raised more money for charity than ever before.
The event which happened on July 13 is organised by Whittington Community Events Group.
Adam Hooper, chairman of Whittington Community Events, said: "It was great and much more successful than last year and we even got away with the weather.
"It was so successful that one of the food vans ran out of food in the middle of the afternoon.
"It was a great atmosphere and lots of the stallholders that were there said that they would definitely sign up again.
"The fayre definitely achieved its goals of bringing the community together and raising money for charity, so hopefully it will come back bigger and better next year.
"Overall I would say that everyone had a great day out."
Whittington has grown almost "tenfold" in the last ten years and the main aim of this event and the event last year was to bring the community together.
The Whittington Community Fayre was free to enter and had stalls, live music, kid's entertainment, food and much more.
Spiderman, Elsa, Anna and Ariel were all there for the children.
Mt Hooper continued: "We had double the amount of people we had expected and we also raised around £1,200 for St Richard's Hospice which is six times more than last year.
"Considering it was pouring with rain at 5.30am when I woke up and by the end of the day I had sunburn, I think it was a really nice and busy family day out, there were definitely lots of happy and smiley people.
"Lots of people have asked why this is only our second year and it's definitely going to be a yearly tradition from now on which is important for Whittington."
The fayre started at 11am at Pond Farm and also included a dog show and bouncy castles.
