A LARGE number of doctors' surgeries across the city are struggling to see their appointments after a global IT outage.

Businesses and Microsoft users are facing major outages in the UK and around the world, and laptops and systems are not working.

Some of those impacted are GP and doctor surgeries across Worcestershire, which are struggling to see scheduled appointments for today (Friday).

LIVE UPDATES: Worcestershire hit by global IT outage

Worcester Primary Care Network is experiencing surgery delays due to the outage.

A spokesperson for Barbourne Health Centre said the team will use "old-fashioned pen and paper" to book appointments until the issue is resolved.

It added: "We are answering calls, but please be aware it is taking us longer to process bookings.

"We are hoping this gets resolved in the next few hours."

The surgeries under Worcester Primary Care Network are:

  • Albany House Surgery
  • Barbourne Health Centre
  • Elbury Moor Medical Centre
  • Farrier House Surgery
  • Haresfield Surgery
  • Severn Valley Medical Practice - Henwick Halt Health Centre
  • Severn Valley Medical Practice - Lyppard Grange Health Centre
  • Spring Gardens Group Practice
  • St Johns House Medical Centre
  • St Martin’s Gate Surgery
  • Thorneloe Lodge Surgery

A spokesperson for St John's House Medical Centre said: "We regret to inform you that Worcester Primary Care Network and your GP practice are currently experiencing IT issues as reported in the national news.

"This may result in delays at your surgery or with your appointment.

"We apologise for the inconvenience and assure you that we are working diligently to resolve this issue.

"Thank you for your patience and understanding."

Other medical centres on the outskirts of Worcester have also been impacted.

Patients with telephone appointments have been told to email Ombersley Medical Centre after it revealed it could no longer see its patient's appointments.

A spokesperson said: "Please note we currently cannot see our appointment system and therefore do not have access to those patients expecting a telephone call from a doctor.

"If you expect a telephone consultation with one of the clinical team today, please email us at Ombersleymedicalcentre@nhs.net with your name, date of birth and the reason for the appointment.

"Unfortunately, we may need to re-book some of these appointments."

Other GPs affected are Abbottswood Medical Centre in Pershore and Corbett Medical Practice in Droitwich.
