A WOMAN has been rescued from the river in Worcester by the fire service after boat crews were dispatched to the scene.
The woman, aged in her 30s, was rescued from the river Severn in Worcester after the emergency services were called to Severn Street in Worcester.
A spokesperson for Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said: "A crew from Droitwich Fire Station plus boat crews from Worcester and Evesham were called at 9.56pm to a concern for safety in Severn Street, Worcester.
"A woman in her 30s was rescued from the river side using a sled and handed over to the care of the ambulance service. The incident was marked as pending closure at 11.50pm."
A spokesperson for the West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called to concerns for a patient’s welfare near Severn Street in Worcester at around 8.15pm. An ambulance and paramedic officer were sent to the scene where, on arrival, crews found a woman. Once she was brought to safety, she was assessed by ambulance staff and conveyed to hospital."
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "Police were called at around 10pm yesterday evening with a report of a concern for safety of a woman in Severn Street, Worcester to assist other emergency services. The woman was taken to safety."
