A takeaway serving authentic 'Pan-Asian' dishes including Indian and Chinese food has opened in the city.
Hakka Express Kitchen at unit 4 in Ronkswood Hill in Worcester offers 'authentic dishes' from across Asia, including India, China and Japan.
Formerly Little India Express, the interior has been refurbished to offer a distinctive decor, which reflect cultural traditions across Asia while a vintage map on display is designed to show how old some of these traditions are and reflect the range of culinary influences.
The food is prepared by chef Harunur Rahman, 34, who has worked in London and trained in Bangladesh. The takeaway has been awarded a 5 food hygiene rating by the Food Standards Agency.
He said: "It's very much a Pan-Asian concept but it's rooted in two main ideas - we want to provide Indian and Chinese cuisine.
"We try to avoid fusion. Instead, we want to provide authentic dishes from that whole area - from South Asia, South East Asia and the Far East. We want to make each dish authentic to its country.
"People like authenticity and that is what we want to provide. So far, we have been inundated with customers and people have expressed their interest."
The name is derived from the Hakka Chinese who migrated to parts of India, bringing their culinary traditions with them. The food on the menu is diverse, reflecting the huge geographical area that has inspired the menu.
For example, there are Japanese, Malaysian, Korean and Indonesian dishes. Some of the popular choices include Kolkata Chilli Chicken, Chicken Katsu Curry, K-Town wings (marinated chicken with Korean barbecue sauce), Beef in Black Bean Sauce, Prawn Firecracker and Korean Shredded Beef Bao Buns.
All ingredients are as locally sourced as possible, supplied from within a 30 mile radius.

Mr Rahman said: "We do believe in supporting the local community. We want to be part of the community, to employ local staff and use local produce and be an organic part of Worcester and be a source of pride so people can be part of our story."
The takeaway is open Tuesday to Sunday between 5pm and 11pm and is closed on Mondays (except for Bank Holidays when the business is open).
