A driver has been fined after being caught exceeding the 60mph by a traffic camera on the M5 near Worcester.

43-year-old Sarah Louise Jones, of Winterbourne, Bristol, was caught by an automatic camera device driving above a 60mph speed restriction on the M5 southbound near junction 8, which was in place because of ongoing roadworks.

The case was heard at Worcester Magistrates Court on Wednesday, July 17 and a guilty plea was recorded prior via a single justice procedure on May 30.

The offence occurred on November 5 last year, and the defendant was informed that their guilty plea had been taken into account when imposing the sentence.

Jones was ordered by the court to pay a fine of £40 alongside costs of £110 and a victim surcharge of £16. Jones' driving record has also been endorsed with three points.

A collection order was made, giving the court further powers to claim the money.
