A boss of a group of Worcestershire care homes got her hiking boots on as she completed the Three Peaks challenge.

The regional manager for Sanctuary Care homes in the county, Stacey Meredith, 46, raised a total of £2,056 for homelessness charity Shelter and the Alzheimer's Society.

She oversees care homes in Worcester, Malvern, Bromsgrove, Upton, Stourport, Redditch, Droitwich and Pershore.

The challenge saw Ms Meredith climb the three highest peaks in the UK: Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon.

She began the challenge with a five-hour trek up Ben Nevis, followed by a six-hour drive to Scafell Pike, where she hiked the four-hour ascent.

The last leg to Snowdon took another five hours.

In total, Ms Meredith spent almost 14 hours hiking and drove 462 miles.

The entire challenge was completed in 25 hours and 30 minutes.

Ms Meredith, who has worked at Sanctuary for 15 years, said: "I am beyond proud to have been able to take on this challenge in aid of such incredible charities.

"Having worked at Sanctuary Care with residents who have Alzheimer's, this is a charity that is close to my heart.

"And Shelter is the charity that our Senior Operations Team has chosen for our annual challenge, which takes place in September this year.

"I would like to thank all the support, kind words and donations, in particular our amazing colleagues in the Worcestershire region who have been behind me all the way, offering words of encouragement along with the time and effort they have spent fundraising for our charities."
