IT has been over a year since a major American wholesaler revealed the opening of a store near Worcestershire - but what is the latest?

Costco Wholesale - a store that sells major brands at bargain prices - revealed last year that it plans to open just 35 minutes from Worcester.

A planning application was officially submitted to open a warehouse and petrol station at the former Interbrew.

Planning officers will now check the application against local policies and other considerations, such as noise pollution, and review the public's comments made during the consultation period.

The plans, first submitted on January 11, showcased ideas to build a bakery, a sushi area, a deli, and a rotisserie inside its 13,109m2 warehouse.

It also included creating around 630 parking spaces, including 20 spaces for disabled badge holders, several EV charging points, and 20 cycle spaces.

In addition, there would be space for an employee lounge, a customer hearing centre, a tyre fitting area, and a kitchen for the restaurant.

Meanwhile, the petrol station would have eighteen filling spaces for drivers.

The warehouse store will be open from 10am to 8.30pm on weekdays, from 9.30am to 8.30pm on Saturdays, and from 11am to 5pm on Sundays.
