A 33-year-old thief who stole thousands from a city pub has now been convicted of rape and a sexual assault on a man.

Jamie King, of Martley Road, Worcester, was found guilty by a jury of rape of a man aged 16 or over and a further count of sexual assault after a trial at Worcester Crown Court.

The jury returned unanimous guilty verdicts on the rape and sexual assault counts on Friday.

King had already pleaded guilty to criminal damage on June 22, 2022. He is due to be sentenced for the rape and sexual assault at the court on Friday.

As previously reported, King stole £3,350 from the safe of the Cardinal's Hat pub when he was in the position of responsibility to bank the pub's takings.

King appeared at Worcester Crown Court on Monday, December 4 last year when he was finally sentenced, given 10 months jail, suspended for a year. 

The judge also gave King a four-month electronically monitored curfew in force between the hours of 9pm and 6am every night.

King was also told to pay back the full amount he stole as well as £156 victim surcharge.
