Passers-by had a spooky interlude to their shopping trip as young performers sang some tunes from their upcoming production of The Addams Family.

Members of the Worcester Operatic and Dramatic Society Youth Section (WODYS) took to Cathedral Square to serenade shoppers.

The range of performers, aged from eight to 18, will be performing The Addams Family at the Swan Theatre from August 6 to August 10.

Familiar songs including 'When You're an Addams' and 'Just Around the Corner' saw many passers-by joining in.

The WODYS cast of 50 young performers have been rehearsing since January for the performance, which sees Wednesday Addams, the princess of darkness, navigating her way through young love.

In a nod to their sense of community, the WODYS troupe will be donating proceeds from the interval raffles to the Association for Rehabilitation of Communication and Oral Skills (ARCOS).

The Malvern-based charity works to improve the lives of people with potentially life-lasting conditions that make communication, eating, drinking and swallowing difficult, and require physical rehabilitation.

Tickets for The Addams Family can be bought at the Huntingdon Hall box office, by calling 01905 611 427 or by visiting www.worcestertheatres.co.uk.
