I READ with interest your article on seagulls and as a birdwatcher I want to remind you that there is no such thing as a seagull.
There are herring gulls, black headed gulls and lesser black backed gulls.
These are three of the most common gulls in Worcester but there are many others, some of which are on the endangered list.
The recent avian flu also had a devastating affect on the UK populations of the gulls mentioned.
Whilst gulls get bad press for noise and aggression it is important to remember that they are nature’s urban cleaners and keep food litter to a minimal level within our fine city.
I agree that numbers need to be controlled but wanted to offer a different dimension to the way we think of these birds.
