An air ambulance charity has held a 'Thank-A-Thon' in celebration of National Thank You Day.

The Midlands Air Ambulance Charity wanted to show its appreciation to its supporters on Monday (July 8).

The charity's aircrew, staff, and volunteers got in touch with over 28,000 dedicated supporters by calling and emailing messages of thanks.

The annual day, which fell on Sunday (July 7), encourages people to show gratitude towards those who go the extra mile.

Emma Wood, head of fundraising and engagement at the charity, said: "We are incredibly grateful for the unwavering support we receive from across the communities we serve.

"Whether it is our kind donors, volunteers, local businesses, or community groups, we are always so humbled by the generosity shown towards our cause."

She added: "While we regularly thank our supporters in various ways throughout the year, the dedicated Thank-A-Thon was a great way for us to collectively show our gratitude and thank all of those amazing people who enable our aircrew to save lives and provide critical care to those in need."

Ryan James, a critical care paramedic, added: "Our team responds to an average of 12 incidents every day, and it’s only thanks to our incredible supporters that we can help those in urgent need across the six counties we cover.

"I was touched by the experience of making calls to our generous donors and to speak to just some of the amazing people who make our lifesaving missions possible."
