St Richard's Hospice will plant hundreds of handcrafted snowdrops for its annual Celebration Garden.

The unique display, set to enhance the lawns around The Hive in Worcester this August, also marks 40 years of the hospice serving the Worcestershire community.

Members of the public are encouraged to set aside a snowdrop in the display to honour a person or moment dear to them.

The keepsake crafted by Ed Alvis of Metal Art UK offers a unique touch, doubling as a sentimental token to take home or gift to a loved one after the display.

The breath-taking floral installation will bloom from Friday, August 9 until Monday, August 26.

Proceeds from the installation will lend a helping hand to St Richard’s continued care efforts for patients, their kin, and those experiencing grief.

Kidderminster local, Emily Gicquel will dedicate a snowdrop to her mother, previously cared for by the hospice.

She said: "When my mum spent her last five days at St Richard’s myself and my children, Olivia and James, learned what a good death looked like.

"We found a place where an amazing team makes magical memories every day and we made a promise to ourselves that we’d help make sure that care continues for others."

Laura Clarke, hospice campaign fundraiser, added: "Our 2024 Celebration Garden will once again create a memorable focal point for celebration and reflection in the heart of the city.

"Snowdrops are very special to us at the hospice because of the hope that they symbolise when they break ground each year, reminding us that brighter days are coming."

After the display, donors are welcome to collect their snowdrop from The Hive gardens, collect from the hospice, or have it posted to them.
