A VACANCY for a job as a lollipop person outside a Worcester school has been unfilled for more than a year.
County councillor Richard Udall said multiple people had applied for the role outside St Clement’s Primary School but had changed their mind after finding out it paid less than £12 a day.
Speaking at Worcestershire County Council’s meeting on Thursday, July 11, he asked what the council would do to change the situation.
Cllr Karen May, the council’s cabinet member for communities, said: “This is for about one hour a day, split between the morning and the afternoon.
“I know it breaks people’s day up but that happens with other jobs, too. I will have a look at the pay but I can’t make any promises.”
She said there were nine vacancies for school crossing patrols across the county.
