A TOP UK tug of war team is hosting a tournament in Worcester, with teams from across the country set to attend.
The tournament, held at Nunnery Wood Sports Centre on Saturday (July 13), will see at least 14 teams play against each other.
The event is free for spectators to watch and will be the third tournament that UK champions, Worcester Themmadi will host.
The Indian-named tug of war competition will also have face painting and a bouncy castle for the kids.
Team manager of Worcester Themmadi, Thomas Mathai Kondoor said: "Today (July 11) is the last day for teams to register and we currently have 14 teams registered.
"The event will have face painting and a bouncy castle to cater for the children, for the families that come down.
"This will be the third time that we will host a tug of war competition, but the last one was the year before last.
"It is an expensive thing to organise but we want to make sure we host as many as possible.
"People always ask us when we will be holding our next competition, there will be lots of games but it's only something we can organise in summer."
The competition will take place between 10am and 6pm and it will be the first time the team hosts a female event.
The team has been homeless since Worcester City Council removed their equipment from a play area near Shap Drive Community Centre.
Mr Mathai Kondoor continued: "We are all looking forward to the event, it's more of a cultural festival.
"We have a team of over 20 volunteers and we have invited the whole council to attend.
"The event is in partnership with the UK Worcester Malayali Association and there will be traditional Indian Dancing.
"The Asian community is really engaged and there will be lots of authentic traditional South Indian food.
"Last time we had around 1,000 people visit, but this time we are expecting between 1,500 and 2,000.
"Overall we are very confident in our performance but we are still struggling to find somewhere to practice, we have not heard from any volunteers and so we are doing the best we can with the facilities we have."
