THE SEARCH is on for a new landlord at a popular Malvern pub, with two brothers becoming its temporary tenants.

The landlord of the Red Lion pub has left, leaving Marston's Brewery needing to find a new one.

Brothers Ty Walker and Josh Matheson moved in last Tuesday and have been tasked with getting business booming at the Anns Road pub before letting someone else take the reigns.

It is expected the duo will be running the pub for at least the next three or four months.

Their plans to give trade a boost include holding live music events every Saturday, opening the restaurant area up as a café and holding discos every Friday.

Mr Walker told the Gazette: "We are looking forward to working here over the next few months, it's a nice pub and we have plenty of ideas on how to boost things here.

"If it is the right fit, who knows, we might want to sign up to running things long term, but we are a way off making any decisions on that."

Mr Walker is from Bromsgrove and currently runs the Pillar of Salt in Droitwich.

Since taking over last February, he said he has turned the pub around massively, introducing DJ nights, quizzes, bingo, poker nights and dominos- and he hopes to do the same with the Red Lion.

He will also be showing the remainder of the Euro's fixtures on the television.

He added: "We showed England's game against Switzerland on Saturday and the atmosphere was great.

"We don't know if we will do anything special for the final yet but we are thinking of what we could do if England get there."

The Red Lion currently has a 4.5 out of 5 on TripAdvisor, with guests describing the pub as a perfect place with a friendly welcome.
