AN Iraqi restaurant is “coming soon” to the city centre.
A poster promising the arrival of Iraqi cuisine has appeared in the window of 31-33 New Street in Worcester.
The property was recently granted planning permission for the installation of an extraction system and signage related to its proposed use as a restaurant.
A decision report published by Worcester City Council says the restaurant will occupy the ground floor of the building.
The upper floors are understood to be in use as a HMO, according to the council.
The council’s conservation officer said in response to the planning application: “I am satisfied that the proposed signage will not appear over dominant or incongruous and will not do any additional harm to the visual quality of the host building.
“I consider that this form of signage is appropriate in this location.”
Plans reveal the extraction system would be installed at the back of the building and would not be visible from New Street.
