A youth theatre group has announced its move to a new home ahead of its upcoming production.

Lollipop Youth Theatre, a theatre company for children and teenagers, has announced its weekly Saturday rehearsals will now take place at the Royal Porcelain Works in Worcester.

The move comes as the group gears up for the summer production of 'High School Musical'.

The company's founder and show director Holly Fields said: "When Worcester Warriors Foundation showed us the light, spacious facilities in the regenerated site of Royal Porcelain Works, we knew this was the perfect creative fit.

"Through musical theatre, we encourage young people to build their confidence, self-esteem and self-belief."

The production, set to take place at The Norbury Theatre, serves as a milestone for the troupe not only in terms of venue but also the scale of performance.

Jemima Ricketts, 17, an A-Level student who will be playing the lead role of Sharpay, said: "I’ve performed in all the Lollipop shows for the last eight years and made some amazing friendships.

"The experience has really boosted my confidence.

"High School Musical was released the year I was born.

"I’ve always been a huge fan and my favourite character has always been Sharpay, so playing her is a dream come true.

"I would like to thank all of the production team and wish all the children in the cast good luck."

The production will star students from schools across Worcestershire, including Tudor Grange, Bishop Perowne, Nunnery Wood, Blessed Edward, Christopher Whitehead, and King Edwards VI Form Stourbridge, among others.

Ms Fields says: "We have just three full cast rehearsals left, until we’re back at The Norbury Theatre to perform the ever-popular High School Musical."

The group will be performing at the Droitwich theatre from Thursday 25 to Saturday, July 27.

Tickets can still be booked at www.norburytheatre.co.uk.

Following 'High School Musical', the troupe will shift gears to prepare for their autumn production, 'Frozen Jr', which are set for shows at the same venue on the weekend of November 16 and 17.
