A town less than an hour’s drive from Worcester has been named among the UK’s best staycation spots in a new list by the AA.

To create the list, the AA analysed 36 of the best staycation spots you can drive to in the UK.

The list is based off the following factors: happiness rating, number of car parking spaces, things to do, number of petrol stations, number of EV chargers per 100,000 people and number of AA-approved places to stay.

Stratford-upon-Avon, known as the birthplace of William Shakespeare, features at number two in the list.

“You can even visit Shakespeare’s birthplace – a beautiful 16th-century half-timbered building on Henley Street in the heart of the town, before taking in one of his famous plays at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre or the Swan Theatre, both close to the picturesque River Avon.”
