THE SCHOOL holidays are almost upon us and parents may be trying to figure out how to fill the six weeks with activities.

Luckily, the city and surrounding areas have plenty to offer when it comes to having a bit of family fun.

Here a some of the best places to check out this summer in Worcester.

The Great Worcester Maize Maze, WR2 4QZ

Only opening for a few months every year, the Maize Maze has been a mainstay in Powick for almost two decades. Featuring three mazes of varying difficulty, visitors are invited to get lost in the crops. The maze is set to open on Saturday, July 20.

Jungle Safari Adventure Gold, WR3 8SA

The only outdoor mini golf course in Worcester, Jungle Safari is one of many attractions at Ravenmeadow Golf Centre. The 18-hole course also offers the opportunity to host birthdays and celebrations.

Axe Junkies, WR1 3AU

This unusual and exciting sport is like darts... but with axes. Urban axe throwing is an indoor location in the city centre where visitors get the chance to throw axes at a target. They also offer mobile axe throwing for events, bringing the targets to you.

Redpoint Climbing Centre, WR5 1DS

As Worcestershire's biggest indoor climbing centre, have different classes and sessions available, including family sessions. These are about the basics of climbing for anyone aged three and above.

Gheluvelt Park, WR3 7AA

This park in the heart of Worcester offers endless opportunities for activities. With large open fields, sheltered areas under the canopy of trees, tennis courts, the lake, Barbourne Brook and the popular splashpad, there is something for people of all ages to get up to.

Tenpin Worcester, WR3 7SN and Worcester Bowl, WR2 5HN

Worcester boasts two bowling alleys, with Tenpin Worcester in Droitwich Road and Worcester Bowl in Henwick. Tenpin offers a selection of games outside of bowling including laser tag, Houdini's escape rooms and an arcade, while Worcester Bowl offers activities like mini golf and karaoke in addition to its 16 lanes of bowling.
