An "amazing" GP surgery in Bromsgrove has been nominated for a top award for its "excellent care".

St John's Surgery, located on Stourbridge Road, is responsible for almost 16,000 patients in the area and prides itself on creating a supportive and welcoming environment.

The surgery said it is particularly proud of its developments since the pandemic and staff, along with the local Primary Care Network, have implemented innovative practices.

The team is now up for a prestigious award in the Worcestershire Health and Social Care Awards 2024 in the 'Best GP Practice of the Year' category.

The nomination, which was from a patient at the surgery, said: "I have been registered with this practice for the past twenty years and I have always had excellent care from the clinicians, nursing and reception team.

“The doctors and nurses are amazing and they listen. This includes in my last clinical review with Dr Louise Tibbetts.

"She was amazing, she went above and beyond to reassure me about my medication.

"I believe the practice should receive recognition for its service."

Reacting to the nomination on behalf of the whole team at the surgery, Dr Louise Tibbetts said: "I am writing on behalf of St John’s Surgery to express our gratitude for being nominated for a Worcestershire Health and Social Care Award in the ‘GP Practice of the Year’ category.

"We are all honoured to have been considered among the contenders for this highly valued award by one of our patients.

"At St John’s Surgery, the whole team is committed to providing exceptional, patient-centred healthcare services to the local community. Being nominated is a testament to the hard work, dedication and passion that each team member, both clinical and administrative brings to their role each day.

"This nomination motivates the whole team to continue to strive for excellence and to continue our delivery of high-quality healthcare in the Bromsgrove community."
