A 'phenomenal' free food festival has been hailed as the town's best ever as it tickled the taste buds of thousands of visitors and created the appetite for a new festival in the autumn.

Droitwich Food and Drink Festival proved a mouth-watering success for visitors as organisers hailed the event in the town's Lido Park over the weekend as the biggest and best yet with a 'fantastic turnout and vibe'.

With 106 stalls, there was something for everyone at the artisan food festival from Japanese and Korean street food to German sausages and from an Aussie Outback Grill to ice creams from Churchfields Farm.

A fairground 'kids zone' for families to enjoy and a stage with live acts also meant the event was about more than just food.

Running on Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday, the festival was so successful organisers are going to bring an autumn festival to the town at the same location on September 28 and 29.

Mark Cookson, owner of organisers Blue Strawberry Events, said: "It has been amazingly busy, absolutely awesome. People love the live acts and love the choice of food. We believe on Saturday there were probably about 8,000 visitors."

The festival has been going since 2016 but Mr Cookson said: "This is the best yet. 100 per cent we're coming back."

He said of the autumn food festival: "This will be the first autumn one. People have been begging me for a second event here."

Ed Key of Sunrest Cocktails, also known as Espresso Ed, said: "Yesterday (Saturday) was phenomenal. We ran out of things which automatically means it was very good. We have done Kidderminster and Evesham and we're doing Solihull next week. But I think this one will be tough to beat. I'm going to keep coming back - 100 per cent. And I will come more prepared next time."
