ONE of the first things many parents will look at when choosing their child's school is the Ofsted rating.
A school's reputation can rest delicately on an inspection.
Only a handful of the best schools in Worcestershire hold the prestigious rating of outstanding. Six of those are in Worcester:
Northwick Manor Primary, WR3 7EA
Last report: September 28 2022
Northwick Manor Primary School received a rating of outstanding in all five categories during their last inspection.
In the report, the school was described as 'high achieving' and that: "In many subjects, including English, mathematics, science, languages, music and art, pupils do exceptionally well."
The school was praised for how it tackles issues such as bullying.
Pitmaston Primary School, WR2 4ZF
Last report: December 18 2023
Pitmaston is a large school of over 600 pupils in St Johns. The school maintained its outstanding grading after initially earning it in 2017, after continued improvement from its satisfactory rating in 2009 and good in 2013.
The school is recognised for its curriculum, as well as its support for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Oasis Academy Warndon, WR4 9PE
Last report: January 24 2023
Oasis Academy made significant changes between 2020 and 2022 including the roles of the senior leadership team, seeing them increase from a good rating to an outstanding.
Teachers are actively involved in pupils' learning, giving them the opportunity to fill in any gaps in their education.
The academy's safeguarding is also described as 'effective'.
Hindlip CofE First School, WR3 8RJ
Last report: July 6 2012
Hindlip CofE First is a small school in Fernhill Heath that covers reception to year 4. When the inspection was conducted, 40% of students did not live within the school's catchment area.
Pupils at the school are said to: "make outstanding progress and reach above average attainment by the end of year 4."
The school has not received another inspection since 2012.
Grimley and Holt CofE Primary School, WR2 6LU
Last report: February 13 2014
This small school on the outskirts of Worcester received two outstanding inspections in 2010 and 2014.
The school was noted for its efforts at keeping pupils safe, including providing students with expansive E-safety.
Grimley and Holt has not received another inspection since 2014.
Tibberton CofE First School, WR9 7NL
Last report: April 1 2014
Located in the small village of Tibberton just outside of Worcester, this First School received outstanding reports in all categories inspected.
Tibberton is recognised for its pupils' positive reactions to the school's promotion of "spiritual, moral, social and cultural development."
Tibberton has not received another inspection since 2014.
