A LANE has been closed on a busy road in Worcester to allow workers to fix a burst water pipe.
The closure is on Newtown Road and will last for four days according to traffic website One Network.
The water has been leaking from the pedestrian crossing on Midland Road and has been flowing into the tunnel underneath the railway tracks.
Earlier today (June 20), Worcestershire County Council said that it would be dispatching inspectors to the site for an evaluation after concerns were raised yesterday (June 19) evening.
A Severn Trent spokesperson said: "Our team is on site, attending a burst water main on Midland Road in Worcester.
"To keep everyone safe while we work, a partial lane closure has been put in place.
“Our team has identified the burst location and will be working hard to get this fixed and everything back to normal as quickly as possible.
"We’d like to apologise for any inconvenience while our team makes this repair."
Teams from the county council have placed cones and barriers around the lane closure near Newtown Road railway bridge which is a busy junction near the city centre.
