A VAN driver fled the scene of a crash after hitting parked cars on a residential street.

Shocked neighbours in Liverpool Road, Ronkswood, woke due to a loud bang and smashing glass last night (June 19) just before midnight.

One witness said: "A van drove into two parked cars last night.

"I heard glass break. Everyone came out and one guy ran out.

"We called the police, I think the man was wearing a white t-shirt."

West Mercia Police, West Midlands Ambulance Service and Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service all attended the crash.

"A van had driven into a parked car, we called the police along with other neighbours but told the ambulance service not to bother coming because the driver had run away.

"The fire service was also at the scene, the emergency services must have been here for an hour and a half."

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "We were called to Liverpool Road in Worcester at 11.25pm last night following a collision involving a van and a number of parked cars.

The scene had been cleared up this morning (June 20), with the van removed leaving behind a patch of broken glass.

Two cars at the scene of the incident had obvious damage, one with a large dent in the left of the vehicle and the other with a few scratches.

The owners of the vehicles were approached for comment.

A Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "One crew from Worcester Fire Station was called at 11.33pm on June 19 to a fuel leak following a road traffic collision in Liverpool Road, Worcester.

"A van had been in collision with two cars, resulting in the fuel leak.

"The vehicles were made safe by fire service personnel using small tools and an environmental grab pack.

"Police and the ambulance service also attended but the driver of the van had left the scene before the arrival of the emergency services so any injuries are unknown."
