The deadline for voter registrations ahead of July's General Election is tonight.

Residents across Worcester have until 11.59pm this evening to join the electoral register ahead of July's election.

Registration can be done online via www.gov.uk/register-to-vote and takes approximately five minutes to complete, with your National Insurance number required to complete the online form.

Speaking earlier this month, Shane Flynn, an Electoral Registration Officer at the Worcester City Council, said: "If you have recently turned 18 or moved home, it is particularly important that you act to ensure you are registered to vote.

"Then you'll be able to make your voice heard by deciding who represents you in Parliament."

The Electoral Commission's 2023 report on electoral registration figures across the UK found that the completeness of local government registers was just 86%. The report estimates that as many as eight million people across the country are not registered at their current address.

Worcester residents who have successfully registered ahead of tonight's deadline should receive their polling card in time for the election on July 4.

The application deadlines for postal votes and proxy votes are 5pm on June 19 and June 26, respectively.
