THE owner of Worcester City Football Club has urged people to vote Labour at next month's general election.
Simon Lancaster, the owner of City, says he will be voting for the Labour Party at the general election on July 4 - and has appealed for others to do the same.
The founder and owner of Worcester-based SJL Insurance, one of the UK’s largest owner-owned insurance brokers with a turnover of more than £30 million, argues that it is the right decision at 'a time when uncertainty looms large, impacting both market stability and the well-being of the nation'.
Historically, political sentiment has been gauged by the "Essex Man" and "Worcester Woman."
Today, the "Worcester Businessman" has emerged as the new barometer for the nation's political pulse, reflecting a critical shift in the middle of the country.
He said: “A significant amount of the national business community has already put its weight behind Labour.
"Business needs certainty, and a fresh change is urgently required to navigate these challenging times."

Mr Lancaster acquired Worcester City Football Club in 2023, watching the club's recent triumph in winning the Hellenic League title, marking their first league victory in 45 years.
In light of the 'escalating uncertainties gripping the nation', he has called for a Labour victory which 'underscores the urgent need for stability and decisive leadership'.
Mel Allcott, the Liberal Democrat candidate for Worcester, said: "It is clear to me labour will have a national victory. Sadly, I see this as same old same old with little difference between the conservative policies and labour. Liberal Democrat’s will gain seats and in Worcester you have a real opportunity, for the first time in a long time, to elect a local champion.
"I am a Worcester City Councillor and a Worcestershire County Councillor and both times re-elected to the city I have polled more votes than any other councillor.
"With a proven track record this is Worcester’s chance, to vote for someone from Worcester and for Worcester. A real voice for Worcester."
