Supported living staff have swooped four awards at a national industry awards.

The Sanctuary Supported Living team, which is based in Worcester, were named winners at the national Housing with Care awards, held at the Hilton Bankside in London on Friday (June 7).

The supported living service, which provides accommodation and support for those with learning and physical disabilities, retirement communities for people aged over 55, and young and adult homeless people, secured a quadruple of impressive win, taking home four awards from a total of 16 categories.

This was an improvement from last year's showing, where it reached the finals of 13 categories and winners in three in the previous year.

Among the winners from the service was Liz Jones, a retirement communities manager.

She won the Integrated Retirement Community Hero award for her commitment to preventing social isolation and supporting older people in leading independent lifestyles.

The team at a Norfolk care home received accolades in the Supported Housing Innovation category.

Their win was due to their innovative use of technology to enhance the lives of adults with learning disabilities.

Liam Randles, a local service manager at at home in Birkenhead, was recognised for his 'people first' approach, winning the Housing with Care Manager award as a testament to his work environment and exemplary support for residents with disabilities.

Alexandra Reynolds, a project worker in Weston-Super-Mare, was awarded the Care and Support Worker award.

Her kind demeanour and above-and-beyond approach for the young people she works with earned her the honour.

Sanctuary also received 'highly commended' in two categories, with the housekeeping team at a retirement community in Stoke being praised for their attention to detail and friendly approach.

Donna Whittle, a local service manager, who transformed Sanctuary's Salford services into high-level mental health service, was also honoured.

Sanctuary’s director, Dave Shaw, said: "I am immensely proud of all our finalists at the Housing with Care Awards, and especially our team members who were named as winners or highly commended in their respective categories."

He added: "Their success is a wonderful reflection of Sanctuary Supported Living’s commitment to provide the highest-quality care and support for all our customers".
