A MAN was injured and a road closed in both directions following a car crash between a van and a car which left a convertible in a ditch.

Fire crews were called out to the scene of the crash in Pershore Road, Hinton-on-the-Green, shortly after 6pm last night.

A spokesperson for Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said: "A crew from Evesham Fire Station was called at 6.05pm to make a vehicle safe after  road traffic collision in Pershore Road, Hinton-on-the-Green.

"The incident involved a van and a convertible car which had rolled over and come to rest in a ditch. No persons were trapped but one male casualty in his 40s was handed over to the care of the ambulance service who attended along with police.

"Pershore Road was closed in both directions. The incident was marked as pending closure at  6.47pm."

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "We received a call around 5.40pm yesterday evening  (June 6) with a report of a collision on Pershore Road, near Cropthorne.

Officers arrived at the incident to find two vehicles involved.

"One driver sustained injuries not thought to be life threatening or life changing."

A spokesperson for the West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 6pm to a road traffic collision involving a car and a van on Pershore Road in Evesham.

"One ambulance and a Community First Responder (CFR) attended the scene. Upon arrival we found a man who was the driver of the car.

"He was assessed and had sustained injuries which were not believed to be life threatening. He received treatment at the scene before being conveyed to Worcestershire Royal Hospital for further assessment. No further patients required treatment.”
