A LONG-running festival will be taking place in Worcestershire this month.

The Droitwich Food and Drink Festival is the oldest festival organised by Blue Strawberry Events and is taking place from June 21-23.

Foodies from across the town will head down to Lido Park in their thousands to enjoy the food and activities as well as the free music throughout the weekend.

Mark Cookson, who organises nine food and drink festivals across Worcestershire, including Evesham and Droitwich, said: "I am looking forward to the Droitwich Food Festival, especially after the success we had in Evesham.

"It was a big success, it was busier than I expected, there was probably around 15,000 people over the three days although it was probably helped by the good weather.

"Droitwich is my longest-running event and it's always packed to capacity."

The Droitwich Food Festival will not have as big of a funfair due to size restrictions but will still have kids' rides.

Mr Cookson added: "It will be a great family day out.

"There will be a stage with local bands and children's entertainment.

"There will also be 15 to 16 hot food vendors from across the world, artisan food producers, so brownies, breads, chutneys, there will be bars, family entertainment and face paint.

The event will be open from 4pm to 10pm on June 21, 10am to 10pm on June 22 and 10am to 7pm on June 23.

Mr Cookson said: "I look forward to all of my events, I'm quite lucky, I love what I do.

"I especially like the festival in Droitwich because it's my hometown and my longest running.

"Seeing local food producers be able to display their products to the public and for people to buy and enjoy food and drink amongst great entertainment, and to all that and still keep it free to attend is a credit to my amazing team.

"As with most outdoor events, the weather plays a huge part in how many people turn out, I haven't looked at the weather yet as it constantly changes, but around a week before I will be checking the weather every day."

The festival will also include a chilli eating competition, an escape room and an obstacle course.
