A Worcester service station has been told it can’t put up a new illuminated sign.

Nunnery Park Service Station, off the A4440, wanted to erect an additional totem sign on a grass verge near the entrance to the site.

But city council planners rejected the plan, saying it would have had a detrimental impact on the area because of the amount of “street clutter” that already exists at the site.

Warndon Parish Council had said the site already suffers from an excess of “visually intrusive signage” and worried that adding more would negatively impact bats in the area.
