A POPULAR attraction featuring alpacas is set to close after struggling to meet council demands.

Alpaca Meadows revealed with a "sad heart" that the site on The Rhydd will close for good after being unable to meet the demands of the Malvern Hills District Council planning department. 

Tricia Stapleton, the owner of Alpaca Meadows, bought the land in 2017 and has since built a popular attraction where visitors can walk with the animals.

She revealed the news of the closure on Facebook.

She said: "It is with a very sad heart that I have to announce that Alpaca Meadows is closing down on June 15, 2024, at 4pm.

"This is due to the demands of Malvern Hills District Council planning department, which we are unable to meet.

"Alpaca Meadows was a dream come true for me, and although it has been the hardest job I have ever had, it has been amazing.

"I have met some lovely amazing people who I am sure I will see again.

"It has been an absolute honour to serve and bake for you.

"My team are amazing and it has been a pleasure to see you grow from young boys and girls into lovely young adults. I feel so honoured to have you work as part of Alpaca Meadows."

A spokesperson for Malvern District Council said they are unable to provide a comment due to pre-election period restrictions.

Those who have a booking or a voucher have been told to contact the centre after 4pm when the tearoom has closed.

Visitors have been told to WhatsApp, Messenger, text, email, or phone Alpaca Meadows but to avoid leaving voicemails. 

She added: "I am feeling totally lost at the moment and have lots of arrangements to make. I will be going through my diary and making contact soon.

"Once again it has been a complete honour to be here for you and share my beautiful animals with you.

"I will miss you all."
